Rotary Financials
Rotary's financials demonstrate our dedication to stewardship and sustainability. As a global organization operating in over 200 countries and geographical areas and in 29 currencies, Rotary takes stewardship of its funds very seriously.
Stewardship begins as funds are received around the world. It continues through our prudent investment practices until funds are spent to provide life-changing and sustainable grants, as well as programs and services for members. All along the way, Rotary complies with regulatory requirements in all the jurisdictions in which we operate.
Financial reports
We file and publish our financial reports according to the relevant laws and rules applying. Our international organisation’s annual report and audited financial statements are posted publicly.
Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation are separate entities with distinct reporting requirements. Under United States tax law, they are both tax-exempt organisations.
Financial structure
Each Rotary club in 9980 is an incorporated society under NZ law and is governed by a board. Most of the clubs also have a charity registered under the NZ charities law. The charities operate exclusively for charitable purposes recognised by NZ law and are governed by trustees appointed by the founding club. The clubs and the charitable trusts each file all relevant returns and financial records for total transparency.
The Rotary Foundation is organized as a public charity operated exclusively for charitable purposes and governed by a Board of Trustees. The operations of Rotary International, a member organisation, are overseen by its Board of Directors.
The headquarters of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation are in Evanston, Illinois, USA. We have associate foundations in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
Our commitment to transparency
Being financially responsible means having nothing to hide. This commitment has earned our international charity a top rating of four stars from Charity Navigator, the largest and most utilized independent evaluator of nonprofits in the United States.
