to be held at College House, Waimairi Road, Christchurch
from Sunday 14th January to Thursday 18th January 2024 |
Is a ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD for you?
- Do you already demonstrate leadership skills in your community, workplace, field of study, sports code or volunteer capacity?
- Do you have a good, positive attitude and are you a team player?
- Do you demonstrate a drive to succeed?
If you can answer yes to the above then the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA ) is the right platform to take you to the next level.
RYLA is a 5 day long live-in leadership development course run by Rotary. It and includes presentations, activities, and workshops covering a variety of topics, including:
- communication skills
- problem-solving and conflict management
- community and global citizenship
RYLA participants are nominated by their local Rotary clubs, which often cover all expenses associated with the program or by corporate sponsor like an employer.
You can also be sponsored by your place of work or industry you work within or community group you associate with. Please ask your local Rotary representative for more information on corporate or industry sponsorship. Or you may like to approach your employer or leader of an organisation you belong to, to sponsor you. You will still need a Rotary Club to endorse your Application and help is available to find one for you.

You can apply in one of two ways:
- by completing either the "Page Downloads" RYLA Application Form (.docx) or
- by using the below Application form. This will copy you and forward a copy to the RYLA committee.
You will then be required to have a suitability interview.
All Application forms and interviews must be completed and received by the RYLA Christchurch District Committee before 20th November 2023. It is recommended that you begin the registration process before the end of October to ensure time for interviews and selection.
Late applications may be considered if there are spaces available. If you are late submitting your application, please email the RYLA Christchurch District Committee directly at d9999rylachch@gmail.com to make your enquiries.
Successful Applicants will be notified of their acceptance within 20 working days of receipt of the candidate endorsement form from their sponsoring Rotary Club, or by December 2nd 2024 at the latest.
