Wanaka Rotary was serving up a smorgasbord of BBQ delights this January to support Camp Quality. Camp Quality manages a week-long camp for children living with cancer.

Around 100 people attended the lunch which was held in the Holy Family Wanaka school grounds. Guest included around 50 children and their caregivers.

The group are on an camp in Queenstown which is organised by Camp Quality - a voluntary organisation which manages planned activities and outings for the young people, and gives them a break away from their homes and families. They are supported by volunteers, caregivers and a paid nurse.

The programme has been running for 30 years and is now in 17 countries. Camps receive some base funding but rely on donations and assistance from businesses and service clubs. The Rotary Club of Wanaka was involved because one of our members has relatives that have been with the organisation for more than 10 years and had approached the club for assistance, which was provided,” club spokesperson Fran Tate said. β€œIt was a very successful day.”
