Most people have heard of Rotary, many can name some of the initiatives we’ve been involved in, but few know the extent of our charity’s involvement in launching and supporting some of New Zealand’s most iconic organisations, or our role in providing international aid.
Supporting and enriching youth is a long-standing cornerstone of Rotary, and we oversee several programmes designed to make a real difference to New Zealand’s youth.
When the going gets tough, Rotary has a long and proud history of being there. In times of civil emergency, Rotary provides urgent supplies and expertise through our two disaster relief programmes, ShelterBox and Emergency Relief Kits (ERKs).
We also have specialist medical programmes, Rotary Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC) and Interplast, which provide life-saving and reconstructive surgery for children from developing countries who wouldn’t otherwise have access to such vital health care.
Today, we remain active in numerous programmes that we’ve helped establish over the decades, programmes that literally change the lives of those they touch. In other cases, our hands-on role has ended, but we continue to provide our backing through the likes of sponsorships and donations.
